Evelyn MacKay, DVM

Owner of Red Heifer Veterinary Services

Dr. Evelyn MacKay grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. After studying dairy science at the University of Wisconsin, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri in 2015.

She completed an internship in farm animal medicine and surgery at The Ohio State University and went on to complete a large animal internal medicine residency in 2019 at Texas A&M University. She became a boarded specialist in large animal internal medicine the same year and began working at an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M. After two years, Evelyn left to start Red Heifer Veterinary Services and work in small animal non-profit clinics providing access to care for communities in need.

Evelyn’s main interests are small ruminant medicine and providing high quality, personalized care. When she started Red Heifer Veterinary Services, her goal was to focus her attention on a small group of clients and patients that aligned with her interests and values. Evelyn believes in education, cooperative, and communication as the foundation of a healthy relationship between veterinarians and animal owners.
